Meet Our Team

Pat Sloan, ASA, CMI is a Principal at Merit Advisors. Pat provides property tax consulting services, managing clients’ property portfolios to minimize their annual property tax liabilities and ensure accurate valuations. With this focus, he regularly negotiates with city, county and state officials to achieve assessed value adjustments. Pat also directs property tax return preparation, audits and appeals. Additionally, he provides valuation consulting services including market studies, obsolescence studies, depreciation studies and property appraisals for various purposes. As leader of the mineral services team at Merit, he trains and mentors the firm’s consulting staff, preparing them to serve clients and develop into future practice leaders.

Prior to joining Merit, Pat was a Senior Manager at both Advantax Group and American Appraisal Associates. He is a past President of the Oklahoma Association of Tax Representatives, and has also been active with the Institute of Professionals in Taxation (IPT). Pat received the IPT’s Literary Award and is an instructor in the organization’s property tax school.

Pat received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Real Estate and Finance from West Texas State University. He is certified by the American Society of Appraisers as an Accredited Senior Appraiser – Machinery & Technical Specialties (ASA), and is a Certified Member of IPT (CMI). He is also licensed by the state of Texas as a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser and a Senior Property Tax Consultant.
